Anne Arundel County is a unique and diverse jurisdiction in that it borders bustling metropolitan areas such as Baltimore City and Prince George's County and also more scenic areas such as Calvert and Queen Ann's Counties. A portion of the Bay Bride is also contained within Anne Arundel County. Due to this diversity, DWI cases in Anne Arundel County require particular expertise and experience in actually handling these types of cases. The DWI attorneys at Jimeno & Gray are former Anne Arundel County prosecutors who understand these cases from the prosecutors' perspective and as defense attorneys.
There are two District Court locations in Anne Arundel County, one in Annapolis and one in Glen Burnie. The location of where your case will be heard will depend on where you were pulled over and from which station the police officer who arrested you is assigned. For instance, as a general rule Anne Arundel County Police officers who are assigned to the Northern and Eastern Districts will have their DWI cases heard in the Glen Burnie District Court while officers assigned to the Southern and Western Districts will have trial dates in the Annapolis District Court.
There are a number of police agencies which patrol Anne Arundel County and who routinely make DWI arrests. In addition to the Anne Arundel County police, you could encounter the Maryland Transportation Authority Police Department, the Maryland State Police or even the Natural Resources Police Department. The Maryland Transportation Authority Police Department typically enforces the traffic laws on or around BWI Airport, the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Bay Bridge and the Ft. McHenry and Harbor tunnels. While the Maryland State police have statewide jurisdiction, they typically patrol the major interstate highways in the county such as I-695, the Baltimore Beltway, I-97 and Route 50. While the Natural Resources Police Department has statewide jurisdiction as well, their alcohol enforcement is generally restricted to cases of boating while intoxicated.

In addition, due to the variety of police departments which patrol the Anne Arundel County roadways, certain defenses are unique to DWI cases in the county.
